Dr. Grinstead along with Ellen Grinstead, his wife of over 23 years, operates Grinstead Treatment and Training Services. Together they train professionals in the treatment of chronic pain and coexisting disorders using the Addiction-Free Pain Management® System that Dr. Grinstead developed. They also offer Relapse Prevention Coaching for individuals with prescription medication, chemical dependency or eating addictions, who are ready to learn and use proven Relapse Prevention tools to avoid future relapse episodes.
Dr. Grinstead is now the Clinical Director of Training & Consultation for the Gorski-CENAPS® Corporation, as well as an author and internationally recognized expert in preventing relapse related to chronic pain disorders. He has been working with pain management, addictive disorders--especially prescription drug addiction or abuse--and other coexisting mental and personality disorders for nearly three decades, teaching seminars and certification trainings for over fifteen thousand health care professionals and therapists in key cities across the United States and Canada.

Dr. Grinstead has a Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science, a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate in Addictive Disorders. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, (LMFT) a California Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-II), and an Advanced Relapse Prevention Specialist (ACRPS). He was on the faculty of UC Santa Cruz Extension Alcohol and Drug Studies Program and also taught at Santa Clara University, UC Berkeley Extension and Stanford University Medical School and is currently on the faculty of University of Utah's School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies.
